Bane84 has started a SSB project with MUGEN engine. He managed to make a Kirby character, which can interact with a Final Destination stage from SSBB, and play like SSBB (life system, getting KO'd when throwed down/throwed up/throwed far away, plataform system, etc). Be sure to check his website:

He doesn't seem like he is going to keep that work, though... sad

The chars can only have those states if they go against a character who has the same gameplay. So having it in a normal MUGEN wouldn't be too effective

Char compatibility is one of the biggest limitations IMO

You could, but if you mean make it compatible with Kirby & the stage, then you'll have to memorize all states & animations used.
But it seems like a great idea to make it with SSBB gameplay.

Nope, I can edit Kirby's sprites, attacks, and sounds, to make them Ness. It will be easier.
I thought I could make an Onett stage too, but it's harder.
