How many sprites in a normal char?

Usually when i make chars, i end up with about 60- 100 sprites, but with all these normal run of the mill chars i download, theres like OVER 9000 sprites! Should i like take more time when making my sprites?

not necessarily needed. its up to you. other additional sprites can be for support chars (optionally added), custom effects, custom hitsparks
well for char themselves, of course its better to have more attacks to work with rather than lacking in them

You don't need to go overboard with sprites
The more sprites you use, the more time you'll end up consuming making the char

Chars with 1000-100 sprites are pretty common, and they're the most recommended type of chars to make for newbies
If you want to go over 1000, knock yourself out
Just keep in mind that more sprites mean more work
But more work means better quality

Just use neccesarry sprites
some people insert sprites which are not even used for the char while others insert blanks

Let's see:

The get-hits alone require 64 sprites

Basic motions will run you at about 20 sprites give or take

2 sprites for Protrait and mini-protrait

And about 25 sprites for basic attacks again give or take

So....

If you wanted a functional character that can 9 basic S/C/A attacks you would need about 100 sprites in your sff

This is going off my Sajin and he has 289 sprites.
